Detail in Louis Sullivan's Guaranty Building

Since analyzing a Sullivan detail in my digital communication class, I’ve been really interested in his work. Today in History of Modern Architecture we looked at his Guaranty Building. I was shocked to look closely at the building and see that is entirely clad in his extremely ornate geometric patterning. I love his attention to detail and use of geometry–I’ve noticed in studio that in their designs, a lot of my peers draw their geometries from what seems like nothing. I love that everything Sullivan designed has an explanation.
